Chocolate Mint Balls

Cacao powder is a fantastic source of antioxidants. Antioxidants help combat oxidative stress and protect the body against damage caused by free radicals. This can contribute to overall cellular health and may have anti-inflammatory effects. Both dates and almonds are excellent sources of dietary fibre. Fibre aids in digestion, promotes feelings of fullness, and helps maintain stable blood sugar levels. It also supports a healthy gut microbiome which promotes overall health and reduces the risk of chronic inflammation-related conditions.

Makes 10 Balls

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup medjool dates, pitted

  • 1 cup almonds

  • 1/4 cup cacao powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract

  • 2 tablespoons local honey

  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil, melted

For the coating

  • 2 tablespoons matcha powder

  • 2 tablespoons coconut flour

Method:

  • In a food processor, add the dates, almonds, cacao powder, peppermint extract, honey, and melted coconut oil. Process the mixture until it forms a sticky dough-like consistency.

  • Scoop out small portions of the dough, about 1 tablespoon each, and roll them into balls between your palms. Place the bliss balls on a plate.

  • In a separate bowl, mix together the matcha powder and coconut flour until well combined.

  • Roll each bliss ball in the matcha powder and coconut flour mixture until coated evenly. Gently press the coating onto the balls to ensure it sticks well.

  • Once coated, return the bliss balls to the plate or lined baking sheet. Repeat the process until all the balls are coated.

  • Place the coated bliss balls in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes to firm up.

  • Once chilled and firm, transfer the bliss balls to an airtight container for storage. They can be kept in the refrigerator for up to a week.

  • Enjoy!
